Re: Method to import track names?

Thanks its2loud! Ugh. Kind of thought there'd be this issue. The names are not sequential; each name is unique. I'll look more into the creating an AAF. I have EdiMarker, but so far have not been...

Method to import track names?

Hi all, thought I'd tap the collective hive mind and see what pops up! I need to streamline - if possible - naming tracks. I have 1000 tracks to name, that correspond to names from an Excel SS. Is...

Re: Mac Mini

Yup - my advice usually is to get the best CPU you can, and the lowest amount of RAM. IT won't void your warranty, but - if you are really scared if you have to take it in to Apple (and I HIGHLY...

Re: Mac Mini

+1 for the Mini. Mini's have been my main machine for over 2 years now - my first was the last C2D - and even it was a great little machine. My current is an i7 (I have 16 GB RAM, but 8 is a fine...

Re: Honestly, who uses a mac mini?

Using one here to great success. Small to mid-size sessions mostly, (with the occasional larger session) with zero PT hiccups (that weren't pilot error) so far. have had it just under a year, and it...

Re: ilok One question

Yeh - this makes sense, Obsidian. Bummer though.

And Craig, I'll give that a try. Thanks to both of you for the suggestions.

Re: ilok One question

I understand that. I have been using a USB 2 hub for quite a while with no issues. But with the new machine and USB 3 connectivity, and I don't want to downgrade the bus speed - thus buying a USB 3...

ilok One question

Anyone notice a problem with ilok 1's not being recognized with a powered USB 3 hub? I can connect my ilok 1's to the USB port of my new MBP (with USB 3) but they won't light up or be recognized with...

Re: Pro Tools 10, Ilok, and university computer labs

We have over 100 Pro Tools stations at the school I work for in my day job. We use simple braided security wire with cable ferrules. Take a length of wire that will provide enough for a nice service...

Re: Newly installed PT10 wont open

Try finding the Oxford PI, removing it from the plug-ins folder temporarily (to the desktop, maybe) and try starting PT again. If the load is then successful, the Oxford itself may be an issue......

Re: Channel Strip, missing number values

have you tried opening PT and then the channel strip in another user account? I had a similar error, where there was display, but everything was garbled ASCII code. Opened in another account, and...

Re: Stop breathing!!

Ya know, I just am not a fan of gating, specially if its a naked voice (i.e., no music or FX around it). But again, I have heard some really nice tracks that have been gated.

Agreed!

Re: Stop breathing!!

This has worked for me for VO and vox tracks for years... Take a second to record some 'room tone'. 10-20 seconds is fine. From that room tone track, copy into your clipboard a selection - I...

Re: stereo interleaved or multiple mono to send for pre-master?

Honestly, and I am not being snarky here... but why has no one mentioned just asking the mastering house what they want? Albee says "Why not send both?(unless the mastering house has a preference,...

Re: 003 Discontinued?

This makes more sense to me than simply the HD|Native option, as long as it is thunderbolt (I think FW 800 will never see the light of day in an interface, 400 is DOA by now, and a USB interface is a...

Re: Anything like an RTAS 'MPC' plugin out there?

Thanks for all your replies!

I think Geist might actually be the closest I've seen. Nice recommendation. I'll pass it along.

Anything like an RTAS 'MPC' plugin out there?

I know that re-wiring any number of apps will accomplish something like this, but I wonder if there is a simple RTAS plugin that can be used in this fashion: essentially either record or import a...

Re: New TONSTURM 02 Electricity Library Released!

WOW! These are really great. I especially like the fact that these capture the low frequencies of these discharges. Really resonant - and to many, I bet, sort of counter-intuitive. You think of...

Re: Beginner's Macbookpro and Pro Tools question

OP = Original Poster :-)

I've known a lot of folks who very successfully have used a MBP as the main 'engine' for their studios, and have even used mine for the same purpose - and mine is a couple...

Re: Beginner's Macbookpro and Pro Tools question

Albee is quite right... though I didn't add any of that additional info as the OP wants a MBP, so no Win 7 and therefore no USB2... and I guess I could have been more specific - recording to the...

Re: Beginner's Macbookpro and Pro Tools question

"just a completely normal USB external harddrive I need"

Nope... It is highly recommended that you use a Firewire drive. Not USB. They are also at OWC (macsales.com) or newegg.com or other...
