This machine is a beast for protools.

Re: Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

If I were doing this today, I would use the knowledge of the community and build the latest stable version. IF mountain lion and Ivy Bridge are working (and PT 10.3 supports) absolutely. I would make...

Re: Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

A few people have been emailing me privately... I am MORE than happy to help when I can -- but the whole point of my post here was to share what I learned from the dozens of helpful people on the DUC...

Re: New Mac pro 2013 and PTHD

Your bang for the buck is to build a hackintosh.

You will still run MacOS - there is no perceptible difference to you (except more speed). A mac addict? what does that have to do with hardware?...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

MSB - you CAN run PTHD10 with only a PCI "core" -- the accel card is not mandatory. I tested my rig with just a PCI core and it was just fine. Underpowered (as compared to with the accel card) but it...

Re: Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

I tested the core/accel in slots 3-2 as well as 4-3 and it worked in either config.

I haven't really needed the 2nd accel !!!

If I need a 2nd accel, I expect it to work.

Re: Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

Not sure... I wiped my SSD 3 or 4 times and installed Lion fresh each time because I made rookie mistakes on multibeast -- I should have simply left it alone and I tried to get tricky. So I may have...

Re: Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

How many cards?
Did you try core in pci slot 4 and accel in pci slot 3?

Slot order seems to matter here -- I had freezes when core was in PCI1 -- and although this slot order is contrary to the...

Re: Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

NO DSDT! Not for the Jetway mobo. Talk about DSDT all pre-dates UniBeast and recent MultiBeast (with Lion).

You "simply" use the "EasyBeast" setting in MultiBeast and you are D-O-N-E (except for...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Not what you want to hear:

1. don't try OS 10.6.8 -- go directly to Lion 10.7.4
2. ONLY use UniBeast to make your installer
3. ONLY use MultiBeast defaults

This probably forces you to use...

Since I have a win PC it was only slightly painful to make the DOS boot drive with the BIOS utility.

I updated my BIOS to the latest and greatest from the jetway site. I didn't want to...

Re: using mulitple displays

Multiple displays is a function of your OS. In MacOS, simply drag your windows where you want 'em. ProTools will remember where your windows are/were and that's that. I personally prefer a single 30"...
