Re: MacBook Pro, Magma ExpressCard/34

I bought the PCIe 1-slot a long time ago. Only one card, only 96 voices, but works with the MacBook Pro really well.

That said, I almost never use it, as most facilities are ICON or ProControl...

Re: P'n'T Pro - 8.0.4 anyone

This weird PnT bug has been going on for awhile. Serato swears that all is well, but there have been a lot of posts on the Serato site about this. I've not gotten blank tracks in awhile, but I've not...

Re: Beware! 8.0.4 Audio Suite broken

Rich,

Maybe it's the incense, candles, and chanting that makes it all work. Forgot to mention those.

Re: Beware! 8.0.4 Audio Suite broken

Rich,

For some reason, I've found that if I plug my Canopus into the fw400 in the back of the Mac Pro (rather than the front fw400) the crashes seem to have gone away. I have the 110, use the 4-6...

Re: constant crashes when video is assigned to FW

Well-known bug. Unplug Canopus, boot up Pro Tools, plug Canopus back in. Have Canopus also plugged in to a/c, so firewire hot-swap won't fry the box.

Another thing that I have found to work, and...

Re: 8.0.3cs2

I work as a music editor. I use the Canopus to export my video file out to a TV monitor. My edit page is on one monitor, my mix page on my second monitor.

Re: 8.0.3cs2

Yeah, that's what I've been doing with the Canopus. I had just gotten lucky and PT 8.03cs2 booted up with it plugged in, and I thought maybe, just maybe, 10.6.3 had somehow fixed it. Not to be.

Re: 8.0.3cs2

Spoke too soon. Crashed it, Reopen, Screen of Death. Please Digi (Avid, whoever you are) fix this Canopus bug.

Re: 8.0.3cs2

With 10.6.3, (and 8.03cs2) the Canopus issue may be close to fixed, in that ProTools will launch with the Canopus plugged in most of the time (it crashed the first time, but reopening the program...

Re: 8.0.3cs2 is up on website in CS updates

Well, my 8.03cs2 crashed on boot-up with the Canopus plugged in; booted up fine unplugged. And worked once I plugged the Canopus back in while ProTools was up and running. So same as before.

Also not fixed is the Canopus 'video out firewire' issue.

Re: Yellow box LIES to me!

Agreed re the Canopus bug. I keep my Canopus plugged in to an a/c adapter, and unplug before PT boot up, and replug after session has been opened. A silly workaround, but there you go.

Re: Snow Leopard and Plug-ins

Pitch 'n Time Pro 2.5 does not really work correctly with Snow Leopard. Would love to have that plug working seamlessly with SL.

Re: Protools Hd on MacbookPro

I have the earlier 17" (2.33) MBP, and PT 8 PCIe in the ExpressBox works perfectly fine. It's a shame to hear there are issues with the unibodys. I was all set to go out and get one, but now I will...

Re: JL Cooper MCS3 USB

I tried it and returned it. It wouldn't scrub the way I wanted it to. I ended up with a Mackie Universal Control Pro. Scrub wheel on that works beautifully.

Re: MacBookPro & Magma new test results...

So far for me it is very stable: MPB 2.33, Magma 1-slot PCIe chassis (w/PCIe card installed, obviously) hooked to an Apogee DA-16x and Sync I/O. In ProTools, you get only 96 voices with the one...

Re: MacBookPro & Magma new test results...

Got my Magma ExpressBox Pro. With the one PCIe card, hooked to a Rosetta 800 w/X-HD card (getting a DA-16x) to a MacBook Pro 2.33, I'm running (for now) a 48 voice session at 44.1/24 with video. ...

Re: MacBookPro & Magma new test results...

I just ordered an Apogee DA-16x with X-HD card, a Magma ExpressPro PCIe box, and I'm looking forward to hooking it all up w/PT 8 on a MacBook Pro 2.33. I'll post my results as soon as I can. Really...

Re: 4 Core to 8 Core System Drive

I did the same thing as Carl. Popped the system drive out of a dead G5 and into a new Mac Pro 8-core. Works perfectly fine; everything runs great.

Re: PT 8: Scrub & Crash

I had my video on fw800 drives attached to a fw800 hub. Once I took the hub (I took out the fw400 hub as well) out of the equation all seems good again.

Re: PT8 freeze on scrub

Yes, but then when I'm done scrubbing, the session plays back from wherever the last insertion was, and I don't want that. It wasn't always this way. I want to scrub, make a marker, and hit play to...
