so committing hardware insert auxes with DSP enabled does change where the committed track is placed by 1 sample, but doesn't fix the issue.

i will test that, but in this case bc it's hardware inserts none of the tracks have are DSP Mode enabled (green lightning bolt)...

further testing shows the committed aux track with a hardware insert gets committed about 2 samples early. i say "about" because nudging the committed audio 2 samples later causes it to *almost*...

ah! figured it out. i had "coalesce trim automation after every pass" checked in my preferences. changed to manual. now it functions as you described.
