Re: Playback Engine "Ignore Errors"

Checking that box tells Pro Tools not to throw any errors if there are interruptions in the audio due to performance problems. As long as you have a session that your system can reliably play, the...

Re: Protools 9.0.1 + MacbookPro Unibody == crash

The actual crash appears in Thread 30 (line 329)...looks like it's in a Firewire callback. If you're using a Firewire audio device, make sure that you've got the latest drivers. Also, try changing...

Re: Yellow Strike with ProTools 9

Try reinstalling Pro Tools with the old version of Strike installed. The PT install upgrades certain Digi/Avid plugins. Not sure if strike is in that list, though.

Re: Pro Tools 9, MIDI is still BROKEN!

ansanity: Some additional information might help people help you...like Mac or PC? What have you done to try to fix the problem? What MIDI interface are you using?

Re: elastic audio proprieties issue

Nothing was changed with regards to elastic audio...the quickest fix will probably be deleting your preferences so that you're sure it's not some weird setting. Other than, post a screenshot or...

Re: Can't use MacBook pro standalone with PT9

Hold down the 'N' key during launch and you'll be presented with the Playback Engine dialog, allowing you to select built-in audio.

Re: GUID vs. APM partition scheme question

The only time that you'll encounter problems is when trying to record to a GUID drive on a PPC mac. Recording to a APM drive on an Intel machine works fine.

Re: 8.0.4 - session specific crashes every time with crash report

Looking at that crashlog, it says that Thread 20 crashed. Scrolling down to look at the trace for thread 20, it points a finger at some sort of PCI hardware query. I'd give Digitest a run and see if...

Re: The New Mac Pro Line and Pro Tools

Go with the 6-core.

Having multiple physical CPUs means that system ram will be split between them, relying upon NUMA (non-uniform memory access) to communicate with the other half. In short, that...

Re: Pro-tools are ages loading!?

Go update to the latest PACE extensions. Also, taking a long time to activate inserts probably points a finger at one of your plug-ins...it's just loading plugins when activating inserts.

Re: Expansion Help Appreciated

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think magma sells a PCIe host card for that chassis. Your easiest route will probably be upgrading the chassis motherboard and host card to a PE6R4. Then you'll be able...

Re: Pro Tools HD System can't get audio fast enough?

It's probably irrelevant, but as I recall, it is recommended that if you have a mix of 192s and 96ios that one of the 192s act as the clock source.

Re: Is PT 64 bit or not? and another question

Pro Tools itself is not 64-bit. It can run on 64-bit operating systems, in certain cases. I'm not sure of which are fully supported, or just kinda work, off the top of my head. :-)

8.0.3 cannot...

Re: HD2 PCI on Mac G5 -or- Mac Pro ??

PCI-X adds an extra set of pins, but it is backwards compatible with standard PCI cards. HD cards are PCI-X specifically.

All Intel Macs are 'Mac Pros'. G5 was the name of the PPC chip in older...

Re: Magma PE6R4 PCIe x4 plugging into Intel Mac PCIe x16 slot?

The PE6R4 host card fits in any of the PCIe slots in a modern Mac Pro. Usually it's best to put it in the slot farthest from the video card, in my experience.

Re: 192 i/o card installation problem

Is the added card seen in digitest?

Just to be clear, you didn't remove the digital card, did you? It has to be in there.

Re: Pro Tools Text/Font Size

No, unfortunately.

Two options: run at a lower resolution, or selectively use OSX's CTRL+mousewheel function to zoom the entire screen.

Re: recording while booted into true 64 bit mode on 10.6.2

Heh, the reason why Apple doesn't enable the 64-bit kernel by default is because it doesn't give the average user any advantage. When you're running the 32-bit kernel, everything else can still run...

Re: SCSI anyone?

Apparently only the standard UL5D card is supported by PT...the UL5D-LP (low profile model) throws a stream of errors.

Re: Save Copy Assertion "Could not 14405"

I had this problem once a while back, and fixed it (I think) by doing one of these two things:

*Toggling the copy fades checkbox to be the opposite of what it was
*Rendering out the elastic audio...

Re: Upgrade question - LE 7.4.2 & LE 8

Authorizations from 8.0 don't work on 7.4.2 and vice-versa. Your G5 should be capable of running PT8, up till the 8.0.1 update. You won't be able to update to 8.0.3 until you upgrade to an Intel...

Re: OSX panic shutdown possibly Mbox related?

If you unplug the Mbox 2 at any point while your computer is running, it will Kernel Panic on shutdown...even if you plug it back in again. It's an (unfortunately) old bug.
