Removing Playback Engines from list of choices

After repeated issues of wrong playback engine selected on PT startup, using non-Avid hardware (requiring me to restart PT and press N), I've been wondering:

Is there a way to remove all...

Pro Tools 10 won't start!

I can't really solve this one, I've been stuck for days now without a solution.

- If I try to start it, it goes through plugins, and then tells me it quit unexpectedly.
- If I try to start it...

Re: Definitive answer needed on Host Processors settings

Sorry! Didn't mean to offend, I was just being humorous!

It does seem like the rule of thumb is not a rule at all. I have been using it for years now, only to find (thanks to a pro tooler friend...

Re: Definitive answer needed on Host Processors settings

Yay, captain obvious is back! =D

Yes, I think everyone here knows all that. My question had to do with where the sweet spot will be, since I just found out that the "rule of thumb of selecting...

Re: Definitive answer needed on Host Processors settings

Yep, that's what I'm learning with this experiment :) Still curious to know where that sweet spot would be for 8-core Mac Pro owners, tho.

That would address a lot of technical mysteries, since...

Re: Definitive answer needed on Host Processors settings

I notice a very interesting thing with my quad mac pro (8 threads). For the sake of Native CPU floor measurements, I kept a template session with some instruments loaded, the buffer at 32 samples,...

Re: Switching from Pro Tools - now I feel dumb for spending $250 on a measly update :

Cool. Well, technically, if I sell the update key + software + hardware (digi 003 Rack) - that should run fine, right? They can use the hardware serial for the 003.

Switching from Pro Tools - now I feel dumb for spending $250 on a measly update :/

Hi! Does anyone have experience with re-selling your Pro Tools key? Is that a possibility?

If not, how would I proceed to return a software product, like Pro Tools 9 update, to Avid for a refund?...

Re: Strange 003 rack behavior - clicks, flashes, and reboots itself!

Not at all, I power cycle mine everyday.

But it is a noticeable issue with the product, and when people spend this much money nowadays, they don't expect to see an issue that would mostly happen...

Re: Digi 003 Rack Monitor Volume - crackling pot

Digidesign, Avid and their authorized repair centers have never given me that information, as far as I can recall. I kept asking for it, so I could just order the part. They said something about it...

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

Tree-hugging greenie? Get a hold of yourself, man. Aren't we all music loving audio dorks here anyway? That's almost worse than tree hugging greenie.

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

Pulling the power plug on a Mac Pro at night is not the same thing as letting it go to sleep automatically after 1 hour of inactivity :P

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

I do! I have 2 switch boxes with labels for each gear group, so I can just shut off the master and turn it all off (except the 'puter). Is that weird? :p

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

I have the same problem and contacted tech support.

They charge $100 just to "take a look at it", which is maybe OK if you think $500 is a decent price for a support phone call, but NOT OK for...

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

Yes, after years spending thousands of dollars in interfaces and new computers just to "pamper" Avid and their buggy software, that's exactly what I need now: A solid state drive! HAH! :D

In...

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

True that! Thanks for the tip. But I wonder, can I run Pro Tools successfully without any Avid drivers installed tho? Say, if I get a focusrite saffire pro 40, I can uninstall all avid drivers and...

Re: ProTools 9.0.2 Updater and Full Install for MAC are *OFFICIALLY BROKEN*

Nevermind, only my last post was deleted because it contained profanity and such.

Anyway, I have 9.0.2 and it installed fine, as far as I recall. Maybe the download is getting corrupted? Happens a...

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

Yeah, you guys need to stop clinging with the interface. Disconnection shouldn't bother Pro Tools 9 at all, now that it's native and supports non-Avid interfaces. You could try to find out what...

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

Really? Then why doesn't Logic Audio need to disable sleep? Is it black Apple magic?
What about Nuendo or Digital Performer? Why don't Live or Reason disable sleep in your Mac? By now you should...

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?

Re: Avid Drivers Prevent Sleep - Why?
