The only buggy behavior I have noticed from markers was this: I would select a :30 spot in my timeline, every track and any automation on my auxes, and the marker ruler for the same period in time....

You can hit apple+6 (on the numerical keypad) and that will bring up the machine track arming window. But there is no shortcut that actually arms the tracks that I know of without using something...
