I have the exact same issue with the Faderport 8 controller with PT12 on Windows.
Tech support weren't able to solve the issue and I was considering trying Behringer. I guess not now

Using the PPMulator to give levels for TV broadcast.
0db = -18dbfs I can peak at 6 on the meter which is -10dbfs.
