Well my LaCie FW 160gb causes me pops and click problems every time I use it to record on. Since partitioning my system drive and recording to the blank portion, I've had no problems whatsoever.

Why not route your signal to a mixer and effect it with your outboard gear and route it back to your MBox.

Only thing is you will have to set the track being recorded to an output other than Audio...

Pro Tools interface needs upgrading. The program demands alot of real estate space on one's monitor and sometimes it can be awkward moving from Mix to Edit for those of us that don't have 2 monitors....
