You need to install it so it can put the Rewire REX engine in the system. Copying the app won't do it. The REX engine need to be there.

When Live is open in Rewire Slave mode, in the Mix window on each track you will see a little pull down menu that says MASTER. If you click on it you will see a list MASTER, BUS 3/4, BUS 5/6, ETC.

I use OS X and Pro Tools on 2 systems and find it very stable. The screen redraw is very slow on a large session but I can live with it for the moment. Very rarely have to go to 9 now and I like it...

I have an mBox on my DV 400 MHz iMac and I use it with Ableton Live, Reason and Logic Audio 6. All work great for monitoring. I haven't recorded directly into any of those apps but it should work...

Aiff is native Mac audio, Wav is native PC audio.
If you are on a Mac bounce to Aiff, if you are on a PC bounce to Wav.

The Hans Zimmer Guitar Library Vol. 2 has the best mandolin samples I've used. Very musical. The Advanced Orchestra Library for Akai or the Proteus 2 are what I use for Glock.
