Re: Video Out PCIe via AJA Card

It might work, but it's not supported. Apparently, despite the name change Avid and Avid still don't talk to each other. ProTools has supported Black Magic for a few years. In it's infinite wisdom,...

Re: Avid, cut us a brake

Exactly. Do the two sides of Avid not know that the other exists? Do they ever communicate?

Avid goes with AJA, ProTools goes with Black Magic. Really?

AJA Io with ProTools

I just noticed that Avid Media Composer 5.5 now supports video I/O with the Aja Io Express.

Is it just me or does the ProTools side of Avid not talk at all with the MediaComposer side of Avid?

Re: Protools deleted my audio files.

It may be a bad time to say this after losing a string date, as we've all lost media at some point, but it's a good reminder to ALWAYS have a spare drive and do a "Save a session copy" including...

Re: Your thoughts for upgrading from PCIx to PCIe now we have PT9

I'm using ProTools 8.x, not 9, but as far as hardware goes, I did that upgrade myself a few months ago. Dual 2.7 Power mac to Mac Pro with a PCIe host and the PCIe to PCIx Expansion chassis upgrade....

Re: CALM Act becomes law

The networks use limiters now, and I doubt that will change. It's sort of a safety valve for them.

Other than a requirement to meet what will probably be a LKFS spec, not much will change....

Re: 8.0.4cs4 vs 7.4.(2) stability

Re: AUX suddenly doesn't receive signal anymore

I had the same issue with 8.0.4 the other day with an aux send just not getting any signal for some reason, though I had not inserted any new plug-ins. It was my normal VO template and I use the aux...

Re: 5.1 Audio Track Layout Preference

Paul, thanks for the information. I think it's Post Haste Sound that has the Dolby E license.

SoundCode Exchange looks like a great tool, unfortunately, my clients want the files as AAF embedded...

Re: 5.1 files in Soundminer

Amen on that one. ALL of my clients (Avid clients) want stems delivered to them in the SMPTE/ITU format. You'd think since Avid has owned Digidesign for what 8 years or so, they could get this...

Re: export video omf from avid

Exactly. Any avid video editor should know how to do a video mixdown. They will have to render effects that need rendering first or put in a slug. You also want to make sure they mix down to an avid...

Re: Video file will not delete from session?

H.264 is not a great codec to use wtih ProTools. It uses a lot of system resources and can choke the system up very easily. It's also what is called a long GOP format, so it does not capture every...

Re: Video file will not delete from session?

I would try removing one of them (preferably the H.264 file) from the video and audio tracks, then delete them from the region list, use Quicktime Pro to convert them to the same format then...

Re: Digidelivery!!!

I also received the email from Aspera. It would be nice if they would tell us a bit more about how security was breached. Does not instill much confidence in "upgrading" to the new Aspera servers.

Re: Delivery e-mail delays

Frank, where did you find a "send report now" choice? Under email settings I have a "test connection" choice and when I do that I get an email back almost immediately.

Delivery Spec Question

I'm new to LKFS measurement and have a Dolby Media Meter 2 set up on a 5.1 AUX that gets in input from the same buss that is feeding the 5.1 mix stem.

I just got a delivery spec that calls for...

Re: Delivery e-mail delays

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I've had the same DNS addresses for the last 4 years and no real problems until about 4 months ago and only with one client. It's very odd.

Re: Switching from the L1 to an L3 waves plug in

TDM delay is the same on Aux or Audio track.
RTAS delay is 4420 on and Aux and 3840 on an Audio track.

All four instances had L3 as the only plugin.

Re: Delay Compensation Question

Re: Where can I find a list of qualified Magma Chasis for PCIx to PCIe?

I just upgraded 2 weeks ago from an old PCIx to PCIx Chassis by purchasing the upgrade kit which enables me to use a PCIe MacPro with my old PCIx HD cards and chassis. The kit was $1450 and it's...

Re: Delay Compensation Weirdness

I get the same thing. I usually have a compressor on each stem aux fader and then a brick wall limiter on the composite mix master.

With delay comp on, I get phasing between the stems and the comp.

Delay Compensation Question

I discovered what I think is a bug using the Waves L3LL Ultramaximizer (Stereo) in ProTools HD 8.0.4, or in the Waves Plugin.

I have long (4095 samples) delay compensation turned on (48k/24 bit)...
