A small local MAC based studio closed down, and one of their clients bought an external FW drive to transfer their files to. These usually come out of the box formatted FAT32, and the MAC will mount...

Re: ilok and final cut pro problem

If it's the Waves plug-ins that are causing your grief, find the "Waveshell-AU.component", and drag it to your desktop, then they will not load when FCP loads.

Re: santa\'s wishlist

Well, once upon a time the SMPTE timeline WAS included with Pro Tools LE. It's been so long that I cannot recall what version that it changed in. (V4 maybe?) What I do recall is when they took away...

I cannot seem to find the...

Re: CD file extraction ?

I used to do it using TAE or drag it into the workspace window until I discovered that there was a small amount of samples clipped off the end of some files. From that point forward, anything that...

Re: Upgrade/exchange questions

As long as your serial numbers don't come up on a hot sheet..They will register them, and do the upgrade in the same transaction. At least that is what they had done for me last upgrade.

Re: Top reasons to NOT upgrade to OSX

The decision not to upgrade our TDM systems is simply client driven. So far, our clients (from corporate to musical) are very happy with what we are able to do with the 24/48 systems.

Having said...

Re: importing adat tracks

Making the ADAT I/O (For use with NuBus systems) work properly was always a combination of dumb luck and having a chicken foot for a keychain. I hated that thing.

The ADAT Bridge (Used with PCI...

There is also another app available called mAC3dec. It has a few more output options.

Do a search on Versiontracker for the latest version.

Re: Digital Distortion @ end of Bounce

Had this same "random" full code short burst at the end of some bounces a few months back. It was like pink or white noise. I do think I messed with the buffer size, and that seemed to clear the...

Re: Screen crapped out on my Brand New Powerbook G4!!!

I've had so many dang Macs, I've lost track of exactly how many! My first Mac was a Lisa. It was 1984 I think.

Anyway, I have NEVER had an Apple hardware failure. A few hard drives have failed...

Re: bounceing 5.1 to stereo

With "Tweetie" by Kind of Loud you could audition a stereo, LCRS, and a mono collapse. Just insert it on a 5.1 master fader, and bounce it with the desired outputs streams enabled.

Re: Firewire drives larger than 120GB

I read something on either the Apple site or macfixit about this. Only the mirror door g4's can recognize drives over 128 gig. They must be formatted in OSX, but then can be used with 9.2.2 as well. ...

Re: 44.1 0r 48k for post work?

One other interesting "Default" issue...As big as Tascam DA-88's were (are?) in the post world, they default to 44.1 when you format tapes.

I always thought that was odd.

Re: Drive formatting

Digiengineer - I've had this same long TC lock-up times traced back to HFS+ drives with my MIX systems. (44.1 or 48K) Not great when it takes over 1 minute to lock!

So all my Audio drives get HFS...

Re: Bouncing down 5.1 to stereo

Kinda Loud's "Tweetie" Has a "Downmix" feature that lets you hear how your 5.1 mix collapses to stereo, LCR, and mono. You can bounce with this feature on.

With a little EQ tweeking and a bit of...

Re: Disk Space requirements for 5.1 bounce?

That's exactly what we did to work around this problem. The only snag we ran into is some files needed to be converted from 48k to 44.1, which would have been easier using "bounce to disk"

BTW,...

Re: Disk Space requirements for 5.1 bounce?

I considered that possibility due to the fact that I did not get the "not enough space" BEFORE the bounce started, like ALL other Mac apps kindly tell you.
