This is how I would do it:
only writing mute/unmute automation..
delay 100% wet;
adjust the feedback to about 80% (or adjust to taste) so it fades out itself, as opposed to you having to automate...

If I understood correct all u have to do is hook your keyboard's line outs to your interface's ins. Create aux track(s) select correct input(s). That should be it.
