The only problem I think is...

Re: Recommend external hard drive

I haven't found a good enclosure yet. Looking for Firewire, USB, eSATA, and I'd like it to also have a fan. Most don't have fans. And the enclosures that have Firewire, USB, and eSATA are like $70+....

Re: Recommend external hard drive

One of my laptops doesn't have eSATA. So I'll have to at least also have Firewire since they both have that.

I did notice that Avid recommends USB with Windows 7.

I was thinking of the WD...

Re: Recommend external hard drive

What brand/type enclosure would be recommended? Something that also has some shock protection since I'll be moving the drive around. As that Caviar is an internal hard drive. Also, something that...

Re: Recording to exteral hard drive

What are some good enclosures for that Caviar Black that has USB 2., Firewire, and eSATA that also has shock protection?

Though, I guess USB 2 really wouldn't be needed since I've at least got...

Re: Pro Tools (MP) 9 on Windows 7 keeps freezing

What's a good enclosure for the Caviar Black? Something with USB 2, Firewire, and eSATA. And offers shock protection for the hard drive.

Re: Recommend external hard drive

Where are you getting the enclosures at? I'd like USB 2, Firewire, and eSATA with bus power availability. All I tend to see are the enclosure/Hard Drive combo.

I'm just recording guitar tracks. I...

Re: Recommend external hard drive

I was thinking of that Glyph portagig 50. I could get one for $150 shipped.

Though would like to use the one drive...

Re: Recommend external hard drive

I've got both XP and 7. So I'll record on either.

So, with XP you have to use either FW or eSATA. And with Windows 7 you have to use USB?

I seem to recall reading somewhere you had to use USB...
