This should work just fine. The Audient uses standard ADAT optical protocol which the MBOX Studio supports up to 96kHz.

EuCON support is on the current development roadmap for MBOX Control. I don’t have an exact date but aiming to have something released later this year.

It is indeed is a safety precaution so +48V isn't sent to a line input device.

You are correct, you can use both at the same time (coax S/PDIF and ADAT optical). The optical switch is to switch between ADAT optical and S/PDIF optical only.

Look all the way down at the bottom row of output tiles. There's a knob there that's labeled Ret -INF. Turn that up on the output you want to hear the AVID FX on and you should be in business.
