Re: Recording with Avalon 737...comprission or no compression?

I went thru a bunch of expensive tubes trying to upgrade the sound of my Avalon. I had all kinds of problems with strange noises and microphonics, and was never satisfied. Finally I ordered a...

Re: Gate Key timing variations

I like using the Oxford gate for drum gating because it has a built in key trigger compensation (no shifting necessary). However in order to get it to work properly, after adding the Oxford gate you...

Both DV NTSC and DV PAL are about 27.5 Mb/s for video only. Where do you get 60?

Re: HDCAM frame rate oddities with Machine Control

Many shows are shot on 16mm film and telecined to 23.976. It is relatively easy to add pulldown frames to make it 29.97, and often the 23.976 version is played back 4% fast for 25 frame PAL (up a...

Best HD video Codec for internal playback?

What in your experience is the best HD video codec for display within ProTools in a Quicktime window? Easiest on the processor, but still looks good?

I have either transcoded to letterboxed SD or...

G-RAID2

What are your experiences using the G-RAID2 drives with ProTools? ProTools sees them as a single drive, and they seem to work great.

Re: Vote-- Bouncing vs. Exporting

As I've pointed out before, there are many advantages to recording to an internal track, but in my torture tests BTD had better automation accuracy (this was the reverse on old MIX systems).

Re: Noise reduction plugin recomendation

I agree that ReNOVAtor is way over priced. I wouldn't agree that the iZoptope spectral editing is better. iZoptope is limited to four second selections, ReNOVAtor is not. Removing steady state...

Re: 8 ch output from FCP

The Digidesign Core Audio app allows for Apple sound manager audio to access 8 ch of Digi hardware. So FCP>DigiCoreAudio>003>Speakers or... FCP>Kona3>ApogeeRosetta>Speakers.

Re: 8 ch output from FCP

I'm thinking you're right about that. The 003 would have to use the sound manager, and my experience with my HD system is that it is a little flakey with Digi Core Audio. Anybody using a PT 003 to...

Re: Need help synching new drum track-PLEASE
