Yeah, you are right. It's almost compatible, though. Only the dropdown menus don't work... and now it seems 003 compatibility isn't that good either....

I just tried changing the Disk Buffer size on my Imac with 9.06, but there doesn't seem to be any difference. I will try it on my HD rig tomorrow.

Yes, maybe I should clarify.

In Pro Tools 8 The scale on the master bus level meter goes from -Infinity to +6 db.

0 dBFS lies somewhere above this, so the scale is only showing comprehensive...
