Of course, technically they're not committing "extortion". It was a metaphor to describe the way I feel about avid policy on protools first due to the fact that they will charge me if I want to save...

I agree with you at some point: no one forces me to use it. Limiting tracks, effects, sends,i/o and things like that it's ok to me for a free product, but can you show me a free daw or any other free...

Darryl, I agree with you. I remember (from my own experience) protools essential...crippled and a lot of bugs with no support. Right after, protools se...even more crippled and no support. Now this...

Guys, this is a SERIOUS bug with Pro tools SE and Pro Tools Essential 8.
Pro tools LE 8 and M-Powered 8 had the same bug and it was solved (well at least a good number of cases were) with an 8.0.4...

Se and Essential versions are locked to the bundled rtas. They are very crippled versions and they both have serious bugs (just search in the forums)...
If you want to upgrade you'll have to buy...

No, it doesn't work...Pro Tools Essential is locked to its bundled effects and instruments.

Sorry to say this, but no, it didn't work! I still have the white noise bursts (and also that crap error message "raise the asio buffer size or disable some rtas plugins" even when the cpu rtas usage...

There are several avid users having hard times with this issue (including me)...It seems Avid is trying to fix this...they should! Pro tools "full" versions also had this problem and that was fixed...

Pro Tools Essentials doesn't accept external VST...you can only use the effects and instruments that come with it.
I guess the only solution is to load you vst instruments in some vst host that...
