Re: Digi 002 firewire to thunderbolt Asus G75VW

I have the same laptop and was told it had a thunderbolt port. However it is a mini display port, not thunderbolt. You and I are hosed on that one.

Re: D5 Layback Craziness

There is a 4 frame "gotcha" when you do an audio insert to a D5. If you take the deck out of insert mode, i.e., no tracks record armed, does the timecode match? Make sure you always listen to deck...

Re: Options to omf export when stuck with FinalCut

Peter, you should call over here and I will have you talk to one of our editors who uses Final Cut to tell you what they use, but I am pretty sure its Automatic Duck they use to import OMF. Anyway,...

Re: SRW 5500 5 Frame Delay Problem

One more curiosity question. Is this serial TC just a SRW issue or does a D5 act the same way?

Re: SRW 5500 5 Frame Delay Problem

Just curious, what issues do you have with serial code? We use it all the time with no problems at all, and it takes away the LTC 4 frame problem if 618 is set wrong.

Re: SRW 5500 5 Frame Delay Problem

Earhole is correct. Also, if you are using machine control, using serial TC instead of LTC will correct the problem. I have also had it recommended to set the menu 618 to input instead of auto for an...

Re: Program config for dolby E ????

On the 2.0, maybe the most important setting in metadata is under extended BSI, the preferred stereo downmix mode should be set to LtRt, and it defaults to "not indicated". Of course this assumes...

Re: regarding harddrives....

Definitely different drives for your video and audio. I have had firewire bus problems with a G5 and large sessions. I would recommend Sata drives. I have had no problems with large track counts with...

Re: Dolby E layback to srw 5500 2 frames advance?

It edits just as well with the 2 frame advance. I was just wondering the logic of only a 1 frame advance. I have done many punches on a Dolby E stream, and as long as they match in frames advanced...

Re: Dolby E layback to srw 5500 2 frames advance?

HBO still 2 frames. I am missing the point of in sync "on tape" (1 frame advance) What is the point since the stream is no good until you decode it?

Re: ? about sony 5500 and dolby E

The short answer to both questions is Yes. Also, the "Non-Audio" menu has an option at the bottom of the menu for "Burst" or Continuous". This should be set to "Burst: for Dolby E.

Re: ADR thoughts

If you haven't used both DVI outputs from your Mac, use the second output and use a DVI to composite converter. Very cheap and works great.

Re: Does anyone know of a good side desk for the D-Con?

You could try Ray Anderson at Boca Designs. 818-943-7648 He built side desks for our dual D-Command and they are great. Does very nice custom work.

Re: Can I delete the "Digidesign Databases" off of my hard drive?

I dump Digidesign Databases all the time. They can cause some very strange problems when corrupted. They are re-created when you start Pro Tools. Good luck.

Re: PT HD 7.4 crashes when closing a session

Does it happen with multiple sessions or just one? I'm thinking corrupted files could be the problem since it happens at the region list.

Re: PT HD 7.4 crashes when closing a session

Have you trashed the Digidesign Databases? Try throwing them away from all drives, empty the trash and re-start ProTools. Just a thought, I hope it helps.
