Re: Recording live

Toofly4asoundguy, which Yamaha recorder? The AW16G? I do believe the AW16G uses the same backup scheme as does the rest of AW lineup. If so you can use a utility like AWExtract...

Re: Ashley Simpson.....SNL lip sinc disaster

Ahhh, that would be the Alesis ADAT that started this 'revolution', not PT. Sure, 4 trackers set the pace but the ADAT made the 'pro quality' really affordable, it changed everything.

Money...

Re: OT - Bass players help me

I've played a few ESP's in my time. They were very popular in the late eighties. They are a Japanese company and are easily on par with most currently built Japanese basses. I would rate them close...

Re: Most Depressing Song Ever?

I don't know, Captain, this could have the makings of a wonderfully depressing tune.

Part of a trilogy. Instant weeper.

Re: Best channel strip/front end for voiceovers

I have heard the Symetrix528 with an RE20 and it sounded darn good on a male voice. I do have a soft spot for Symetrix though. Practically anything thru a Millenia Media STT-1 sounds great to me....

Re: tuned control room?

You have them switched around. Pink Noise is 'all frequencies equally represented'. It sounds like a water fall.

White noise is purely random in frequency and amplitude. It sounds like static.

Re: Acoustic Treatment Suggestions?

Check out Markertek and FullCompass. You can get NEW sound blankets for $20 each. Don't expect miracles with them though, They will help with reflections.

Re: 64-Bit Windows XP and Pro Tools?

Like that would guarantee sucess? Every OS has it's share of problems. Linux, being open sorce, could actually wreak more havoc than OSX or XP. And UNIX isn't getting any cheaper! Knowing Digidesign...

Re: tuned control room?

That would require Pink Noise, not White Noise. And the Spectrum Analyzer will never read 'flat' (within 1dB or less) anyway. Unless your room is an anechoic chamber.

This has nothing to due...

Re: Engineering & Mixing - GnR vs. Velvet Revolver

Sounds like a modern mastered cd to me. Squashed to high heaven. Loud and lifeless. When will this trend end?

By the way, in the Mix article they mentioned Scott has PT (gee, what a surprise) but...

Re: What\'s so good about a vintage guitar?

Both companies use computers for manufactering (CAD to design, CNC machines to cut the wood, etc.). Yamaha may have better quality control than Steinway. Or maybe Yamaha has a better design this time...

While Ghost & Drive Image are fine programs, if you haven't loaded/reloaded your OS in awhile a clean install is still the best/most reliable method.

Re: Help needed from Yamaha 01V96 owners
