Real world scenario is that the internal MacBook drive will indeed do 32 tracks at lowest...

Reason didn't become a Universal binary until version 3.0.5
It will be running under Rosetta on your machine standalone. Protools won't see it because you can't rewire a PPC application...

Specs in signature. No problems with the iBook/Mbox combo here. Even using internal drive works for smaller projects.
