Re: Pro Tools M1 support - dec 27th (beta)

Past users/testers of buggy code are going to want back-payment :)

I want to see Avid making money, but paying a company to report bugs in their software always grates with me. But having product...

Re: Pro Tools M1 support - dec 27th (beta)

Huh? What? Why? You mean Avid or plugin developers? Phase what out after a year? Intel support?

The whole app bundle and universal binary approach is beautifully well done, and it’s not Apple’s...

Re: Pro Tools M1 support - dec 27th (beta)

There is not such thing really as "switching on the fly". A process has to be either Intel (run under Rosetta) or Apple Native. Avid could have something in Pro Tools you check and then have it fully...

Re: ? about disk allocation/drive permission

Start with the most basic stuff, what owner, group and UNIX file permissions are all the file/folders you are using. It's super easy to grab old sessions, especially those created by a different...

Re: How to tell if an app/plugin is Apple silicon, Intel or a Universal Binary?

I'm not sure why they would have to. I doubt most users ever look or care wether miscellaneous programs run under Rosetta. Developers might move any installer components or utilities shipped with...

And yet the actual people that know what they are talking about are here on DUC.

How to tell if an app/plugin is Apple silicon, Intel or a Universal Binary?

Since this is probably going to come up a lot I wanted to drop a note about identifying Intel and Apple silicon native executables and plugins.

For Applications you can select the application in...

Re: Pro Tools M1 support - dec 27th (beta)

Good to see Avid setting expectations and helping avoid user pain. (Oops the same company that let users lose work with awfully flakey Pro Tools First/cloud…).

You would be a bit of a nutter if...

Re: Digital Pops

I think that is a good call. Hopefully Avid gets this sorted, it’s got some innovative stuff, and Carbon has more. Which was all great to see, but it would be good to see Avid innovate without so...

Re: Digital Pops

I would have returned the unit by now, while you have that option/leverage. You can always repurchase one in future. Hopefully Avid can fix this which I hope they do quickly... but who knows, it...

Re: Does Superior Drummer 3 Read Mini in PT?

Can you please follow the DUC rules and not posting duplicate threads about the same problem.

You already covered this over here: https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=422648

This wastes other...

Re: Pro Tools Base Window Invisible on Session

It basically was the case before and this silly change broke it. I cannot fathom why Avid did it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I suspect the reason Pro Tools has a "container" on Windows is that it's still using...

Re: Delay Compensation / Recording Issues

Welcome to DUC.

The latency is exactly how many samples @ what sample rates. Exact latency often is a direct clue to what is going on. 1/16 note tells us nothing. Set the timeline in sample mode...

Re: Pro Tools 2022.10 not opening

A not uncommon cause of bouncing apps is macOS gatekeeper trying to reach Apple's de-authorization servers. Typically when users have messed up networking/routing/gateways so that the Mac thinks it's...

Re: Pro Tools Base Window Invisible on Session

I suspect related to this problem: https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=421532 (you might have found that with a Google search with site:duc.avid.com site qualifier). I filed a support case for that...

Re: I/O latency going bonkers

You cannot enter negative values in the HW delay compensation page. That is broken historical Avid design of that page assuming you are compensating only for additional latency in the outboard...

Re: I/O latency going bonkers

Yes. Embarrassing Pro Tools does not have this. And hopefully done well/better than some some if the ping implementations out there that still manage to be slightly confusing.

But it also needs...

Re: I/O latency going bonkers

Negative delay offsets when working with mixed analog and digital IO on an interface are easy to understand and I and others have gone through many times why they are expected. Interfaces only report...

Re: USB Mic Volume/Clipping Issues

44.5% will fix it exactly... how the hell would anybody know? For the third time what is the track input level in dBFS in pre-fader mode? One simple question, input clipping... input too quiet......

Re: I/O latency going bonkers

Negative delay offsets can be understandable any time you have mixed analog and digital IO paths involved, heck they should often be expected. That might explain your past setups behavior?

There...

Bluetooth earphones? or Wired earphones? connected to the Mac? (but you say you are not using aggregate I/O as the playback engine?)

- or Wired earphones connected to the Microphone output socket?...

This does not seem anything to do with Pro Tools software. You are likely to make more progress with UAD support or others over on https://uadforum.com.
