Haven't seen that personally, but you should update to 7.3.1cs6 if you haven't already and trash all the Digidesign Databases off all drives and throw away any DAE Prefs, Pro Tools Prefs and try it...

Does the 002 work with other applications other than DP?

If the Core Audio driver is installed correctly then it should work with any other application. If not, then you won't get audio playback...
