I understand where you are coming from, but these cost around $250, which I know isn't that much, but I honestly don't think there the problem. I have tried headphones and it still sounds the same....

There Altec Lansing powered speakers.....they seem to do the job very well. I don't know, I have tried everything, but still nothing. I need to hire a Pro Tools tech guy lol.

Your not supposed to use phantom power with dynamic mics such as the Shure SM57. I don't know why it doesn't work. I connect it using and a cable(XLR?) that adapts the three prongs on the shure sm57...

It not the Mbox 2, its the original. I am plugging the Shure SM57 into the Mbox. But when I put it on "mic" setting its like no sound is recorded.
