I've been reading about 10 but I can't come up with a reason to 'upgrade' from 8.
Am I missing something? Is there some reason why you upgrade to 10 even if 8 is running...

Any ideas.
By the way this is very easy to do in Adobe Audition because the playback
needle always shows all the way down every track even when it's stopped.

I have to line up some tracks so the playback at certain spots on each starts at the same time. They have various lengths up to that spot.
Some 56 sec, other 13 sec etc.

This is the way people were making 8.x work on Win7 machines.
And the reason given was constantly because "8.x is not Win7...

BSOD is how it started with me too. Then it got gradually worse and after a few days I was getting BSOD's several times a day.

It has never happened after going back to 8.1.

Not for me it wasn't.
I had nothing but problems and ended up having to uninstall everything and reinstall up to 8.1 which has been trouble free for me.

Two more questions:

1. Wouldn't getting PT9 solve this problem, if I go all the way back to PT 8.0.

2. If I got 9 would I have to install some drivers first and go through all that?...

I did what you suggested above by upgrading to 8.1 and reinstall the drivers because they had the yellow mark and were located under other devices.
It seemed to work and everything was moved to...

What's weird though is that PT recognizes all hardware when it asks me to turn it on during the install.

Also one note, I uninstalled 8.1.1 and everything before it and reinstalled 8.0 after...
