getting as much level as possible

I usually test my mixes on my crappy DVD/CD/CDRW/MP3 player. If it sounds good there, I figure it will sound good anywhere.

My problem is this: I get a mix going that sounds great in my studio...

yeah, but I don't *hear* the noise you are talking about in the peaks...sounds good to me, just with more level.

well folks, I moved the drums (cymbals and toms) off-center and used Waves Q10 on the master fader...what a difference!! I think I'm on my way now, thanks everyone for the input!! (no pun intended)

I guess I should've said that they are ELECTRONIC drums, I recorded a trigger kit into an Alesis DM-Pro. Bass guitar was done direct stereo. So no microphone issues.

when I send to the stereo out (wet mix), they are panned hard left/right. Original mono tracks are not panned. For bass guitar, I have 2 mono tracks panned hard left/right, sent to effects track....

yes everything is going to the same 'verb. Although, I am using only a totally 'wet' signal. Should I try duplicating the drum tracks and send one set to verb, and leave the other dry?
