Re: pt11 hanging

Markus, a simple experiment for you...if you can rip red-book audio from a CD in Pro Tools (via the Import Audio dialog), then that service is in fact running. There is no two ways about it. Give...

Re: pt11 hanging

This service is necessary for CD ripping on Windows. With PT 10.3.6, if the service is not running for some reason, the only side effect you will notice is no ability to rip CDs. With PT 11 however,...

Re: pt11 hanging

I suspect the issue is somehow related to a co-install with 10.3.6, but I am not sure exactly. Also, I should note, if you having an issue and have a co-install, make sure you are using 10.3.6 (or...

Re: pt11 hanging

For those of you that still might be seeing problems with this, I can't say for sure what the problem may be that is lingering, or even exactly why the original issue is happening, but one other...

Re: PT11 language

The windows platform basically required you to install an OS is the language you wanted, so we initially (back to XP days) made it so you could run the app with other languages. Changing languages is...

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

Thanks for the apology, though none was really necessary. And to clarify, yes, I was referring to "here" as Avid, not the DUC.

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

Bill, I fully respect your opinion, and I am not going to speak for any of my colleagues, but I am showing up here because I have a little break now after the completion of PT 11, and I genuinely...

Re: PT11 Language Switch - Feature Request

OK, we actually have the option to open PT in any language we support from a popup menu in the Preferences window on Windows (including of course, English). Sounds like this would meet your needs....

Re: pt11 hanging

@eddie, do me a favor...launch Pro Tools, then during the splash screen, open up the Task Manager window, and choose the Processes tab. Tell me if you see a process called digiSPTIService64.exe...

Re: Delete Protools DB in PT11?

I would suggest keeping the notion of trashing preferences and the database as separate. The database is much more stable now, and is constantly grooming itself, you probably wouldn't really have...

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

@Jason, no worries. I have super thick skin as it is, but my number one rule is to always be diplomatic. This will come off sounding like an excuse I'm sure, but it is also the truth. The body of...

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

@Carl, thank you for the reply. For the last 2 years my main focuses have been porting the application to 64-bit and the new database. Up until last Friday, I hadn't visited the DUC since the PT 10...

Re: Elastic Audio plugin Error msg on fresh install of PT 11 Windows

My first notion is that this is PACE related. Not exactly sure how unfortunately, but given the nature of the message, that is where I'd start looking.

Just to be sure it isn't privilege related,...

Re: Delete Protools DB in PT11?

Yes Drew, that is generally true for the Mac. Windows still definitely needs its uninstaller.

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

Personally, I am not aware of this bug, but no one claims that the software is bug-free. It never has been, and never will be. I don't know of any software that is. What you are referring to however...

Re: Delete Protools DB in PT11?

Not without some adjustments, no. I believe the location of the preferences file has changed, and for sure the location, file name and extension for the database file has changed.

Re: Delete Protools DB in PT11?

The database code has been re-written 100%, and is completely different, so no, that old "cleaner" tool will have no effect. The new database code is based on SQLite, and is tremendously more stable...

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

Sure, a little banter is always good!

At the end of the day, I stand by what I have said. When 3rd party plug-ins are released, we won't have to touch a single line of code for them to work, they...

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

To use your same example, would you also not buy the car if the On-Star third party service was not available, or the XM-radio was not ready, both of which could come online as soon as those services...

Re: PT11 Language Switch - Feature Request

Joe, if you ever get a chance to see the Windows version of PT, check out the Preferences window (Display Tab) and see if that is the functionality you are looking for. We had to put that in for...

Re: Protools 11 has put an end to my use of Protools

Sorry, I don't claim it to be not connected. I just claim that we are not the same company, and therefore don't have jurisdiction over the quality of their releases.
