Every time you say "all" you are wrong. Fans are mass produced for a cent per thousand units so there is room for improvement. Obviously the buyer (DigiDesign/Avid) has only requested certain spec...

You need to try it with your hand, forst with the original and then your first try. If it blows air to same direction you have succeeded. If you dont feel anything it needs to be reversed. Nothing...

Do the two boxes have the same firmware or just different fans?

I myself still think that less noise is less noise and the experience I had by swapping an old 192 fan to a silent one is just...
