Re: I need a 8ch preamp and vocal mic

Hey Mark,

I just upgraded to a focusrite octopre, but before that I used an alesis S12R rackmount mixer for the mic preamps. It's very similar to a mackie board but has a little more character....

Re: Should I shutdown my powerbook at night?

It's generally not a bad idea to shut down or logout after heavy sessions. Either clears out all caches and swapfiles that accumulate while youre up and running.

A powerbook isn't a car. Starting...

Re: i\'ve lost the kick drum in the mix!

What i find especially helpful for getting the kick to jump out is this:
Instead of compressing the hell out of the kick on one track, i eq the kick and compress the track mildly, then, i bus all...

Re: ProTools Stops transmitting audio

I have this problem ALL THE TIME with the beta. I call it the "Master Fader Freakout." Even with the old DAE, the 32 track version caused this problem and would also crash me periodically. I...

Re: How do I get the old Radiohead drum sound?

That's correct about the bonham sound technique. From what i can tell, it's a room mic and distant kick mic combo. The room sounds are pretty squashed to bring out the sound of the room and the kick...

Re: What are \'loz\' xlr cables

You should not buy these cables. You should buy a basic audio recording book which will explain these very important facts.

Seriously though, don't waste your money on cheap cables. You'll only...

Just cut and paste a region with a sampled rimshot in it and snap it to the grid. Instant, dead on click track with no midi involved.

Re: Digital or Analog DOMAIN on the L1???

I never leave the digital realm while mixing. Many of us don't. We monitor through analog, but for those of us who don't mix through a desk, our files stay digital. I bounce to 16/44.1, it's still...

Re: Will new 867 Powerbook boot with OS 9? HELP PLEASE!!!!

You cannot install OS9 on the new machines (12" and 17" pb). Even if you do install OS9 from CD and try to"bless" the new system folder, the machine will not start up.
