Re: Channel Mute Issue

I think the point here is that unlike most consoles, the VCA muting of a channel and that channels own Mute button are actually at 2 different points in the signal path. As i understand it, it is as...

Rather Spectacular Mid-Show White Noise Attack!

Hey all,

For the first time in 700 shows with our FOH Venue, I had a pretty spectacular Venue crash/fail this weekend.

The result was White Noise blasting out of all my outputs, some at nearly...

Re: SC48 output level

I experienced this when moving from an M7 to a Venue. It is a metering issue, not a headroom issue. It doesn't help that it seems the M7 meters are in dBfs which would mean that -18dB on the M7...

Re: Extending Firewire cable via FWx for a broadcast sweet - Running into problems

I have never used that particular Kramer Box with the Venue so i cant say anything 100%.

However, it does operate at the full 400Mbit speed you need and supports all implementations of 1394a and...

Re: Extending Firewire cable via FWx for a broadcast sweet - Running into problems

Brenttrf,

A few things to note here:
1. the TP-300FW requires STP cable. most cat5 cable is UTP. are you using STP cable and suitable STP RJ45 connectors.
2. the TP-300FW only supports data...

Re: FOH Cable Extention

Just out of interest - i presume CAN bus is CAN bus? As in, the variations between manufacturers implementations are the data being sent, not the protocol spec in terms of the way data is...

Re: HD Native Card

1 Native card i'm afraid.

I suspect an arbitary (not technical) limitation to keep a place in the market for TDM (HD Non-Native? :)). If you want 128 inputs with PTHD, you have to buy TDM cards...

Re: HD Native Card

Yep. a HD Native card is a bit like a HD2 system - it has 2 HD link connections (each supporting 32/32 channels) which connect to your Venue's 2 * HD links on your HDx card.

Re: iTunes through HDx

The question is - did you get to select which outputs of the HD interface the iTunes returned via? because obviously its gotta end up in the HDx assignables (49-64) to be of any real use...

Re: iTunes through HDx

Excellent question - they are in the case of PTLE - i've never checked with Protools HD, but logic would follow that they are.
Simple way to check is to quit protools, go to System Preferences >...

Re: iTunes through HDx

I don't see why not, provided you have ASIO or CoreAudio drivers for the HDx interface (which i'm guessing would be the same as the drivers for 192 IO). But remember, once you open PT, it takes over...

Re: Record form Mix Rack & Stage Rack into 1 Pro Tools system

You could do this as 48/48 if you had MADI cards and MADI interfaces though - you'd need a MADI router, but something like the MADI X8 would do just fine.

Re: Question-- and opinions on routing and concept

In answer to the original post - if you use a group (instead of a matrix) and then align them the same way you do parallel compression, then there wont be any delay and off you go. Just pop the...

Re: TDIF to MADI Question

the other reason for the MADI format difference is some manufacturers using the last '8 channels' for control or other data streams instead.

you want one of these:...

Re: Venue with MADI to Yamaha Console

Yes - the MADI-X8 is a rather unique and useful box really. I'm about to integrate one into a setup i work with in order to do some clever things with MADI streaming with the Venue.

I have an...

Re: Latency?

There are lots of reasons i would have channel delay on the drums, but not when feeding monitor mixes.

Thats the issue here: in a situation where monitors & FOH are the same console, alignment...

Re: Venue with MADI to Yamaha Console

The problem with the Yamaha Solution is that it requires you to have the right number of MADI EX cards after the MD64 in order to 'get to' channel 64... You aren't able to tell the card which 16...

Re: Redundant BNC

While i wholeheartedly agree with having redundancy, i would respectfully suggest that all of the above examples merely highlight a poor choice of cable route, or lack of adequate cable protection.

The iPad option just got a whole lot more attractive with the release of iOS 4.2 - this means you can finally jump in and out of iTeleport without completely losing the session.

An iPad app would...

Re: Questions after first use......

Massey is good.

The other thing is that if i'm not mistaken (it certainly used to be true) his licenses are valid for 3 machines - so that makes them even better value!

Re: IoX card in Mixrack system

I would hazard a guess that the Mix Rack wont support more Analog inputs. This is because i presume the hardware inside a Mix Rack is essentially the same as a single Snake Card (in FOH rack speak)....
