Re: Is there a way to MUTE a channel when punching in?

A trick I used to use (back in the LE days, when input monitoring / muting was more of a headache) was to put a heavy handed compressor in the first insert slot on the track, and set the side chain...

Re: pro tools 2020.12. Plan updates expired, re-update

You already have a perpetual license, that will work "forever".

Just keep using your current version (2020.12) for the next 4 or 5 years, and then if you feel the need, buy a new perpetual license...

Re: navigating inst. patches from keyboard

If you click on the folder icon, next to the patch + & - buttons on the VI, it will open a folder showing all the available patches.

From there, you can set an interval (in seconds) for how...

Re: Trilian

That would mean all of the open strings had exactly the same velocity - it would sound really unnatural, and robotic.

But if that's what you want (and if you can't limit / define the articulations...

Re: Please help. Midi lines

Well, obviously you'd ideally start with the notes / blocks on the grid line, but as I said, depending on how you copy and paste / duplicate the notes / clips / blocks, will potentially shift them...

Re: Please help. Midi lines

So you've tried "Quantize To Grid", with the grid set to the appropriate value?

The other thing to be aware of, is the much misunderstood "Sample Rounding".

Samples per second (ie the sample...

Re: Avid Pro Tools Account Manager sign in - Can you store your password?

So why not just store the password in a text file, on your desktop - then copy & paste it, if you need to log in.

Otherwise, can't you just change your password to something you will remember?

Re: Can you turn off double click to rename region?

You can turn that feature off for MIDI clips (double click can, instead, open the MIDI editor), but I can't remember if that also disables it for Audio clips - probably not.

Re: Only one Cloud account per Avid account

Anyone tried setting up a bunch of new client accounts, and using Pro Tools First to exchange the files?

That wasn't really viable originally - but nowadays it's more simple changing a Project to...

Re: Auto mute tracks when recording only

If you're using a sound card that has it's own direct monitoring software mixer - you need to use Low Latency Monitoring mode in Pro Tools, which mutes input monitoring through Pro Tools (you're...

Re: Insert Brain Fade

It depends what your I/O count, on your sound card is.

If it's just stereo in / stereo out, you're in trouble.

If you have at least 4 inputs, and 4 outputs, you're in business.

To use...

Re: Pro Tools Complete Midi CC# Chart

Interesting, I will check that out (though it sounds like it doesn't work with plug-ins, or panorama - just volume).

When I noticed I'm quoted several times in that thread, I figured it was going...

Re: Pro Tools Complete Midi CC# Chart

Additionally there's the Slate Raven, which uses a layer of intermediate software (it might be possible to get hold of that intermediate software, but it could be a nightmare mapping it all).

Of...

Re: Pro Tools Complete Midi CC# Chart

That won't work.

Some plug-ins (instruments) will have a MIDI learn function, allowing you to assign physical controls to virtual knobs - but otherwise it's a proprietary language, for which you...

Re: Best way to handle Punch In (PT 12)

I do it when I have to, and it works fine (I just save a preset in the plug-in, that I can open in any session, and tweak as needed) - just bypass the plug-in if not needed, it works like a mute...

Re: Best way to handle Punch In (PT 12)

What you want to do, is turn off LLM, and put the hardware buffer as high as you like.

Monitor your live input through the desk, along with the stereo playback from Pro Tools.

On each of your...

Re: Can I use my older model(MIDI) Mackie 8 Channel Master Control with PT12?

As it stands, you're only going to be out of pocket to the tune of a compatible PSU - a worthwhile gamble.

If it won't work for Pro Tools without the firmware upgrade, and you cannot get hold of a...

Re: Can I use my older model(MIDI) Mackie 8 Channel Master Control with PT12?

You're sure it's not sending MIDI over USB?

In that case, once you get a correctly spec'd PSU, hook up both MIDI in & out, select the unit under the MIDI page of the Peripherals dialogue, and It...

Any Digidesign / Avid / Eucon control surface will have the feature "flip to faders".

If you're in Pan mode, it will put the pan knobs on faders.

If you're in Sends mode, it will put the send...

Re: Really loving ilok cloud

I haven't investigated this yet.

When I'm traveling between locations, I move licenses off the iLok, back to my account, and when I arrive put them back on the iLok.

I presume that in order to...

Re: The end of Pro Tools 12 (new version number scheme)

I read somewhere that they will simultaneously release a full installer, and just the patch installer.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Re: The end of Pro Tools 12 (new version number scheme)

One of the big PITA with the Avid annual upgrade plan (from my perspective) has been that every update was a full installer - and a fairly sizeable file at that.

You want Avid to keep pumping out...
