so i should try a new firewire card? this is the same TX firewire card was supplied by the shop i bought the 002 from and never saw this error once with PT 7.4... same audio drive also... the 300gig...

I reformated the computer with XP SP2
Then did all of the microsoft updates incl SP3
'except IE8' (do not instal this ever...)
Pro Tools now working...

And suddenly found an IE8 folder
Then i found a Spuninst folder
And the Spuninst.exe

After IE8 was uninstalled

dood, when i first got protools i had my soudblaster soundcard pluged into one of the inputs of the digi001 (in your case mbox)

the speakers got plugged out of the 001 (MONITER LR OUT)
