Re: PT8.0 Crash on CPU Change

I know an external drive is 'recommended' and no I am not using one. I do have one but I have had no real issues with performance, and my computer serves me well using the 320gb 7200rpm internal...

Re: PT8.0 Crash on CPU Change

Well I managed to bounce the track out, but there didn't seem to be any real reason for the first or second crash. I quite often use the disc utility and try and keep everything sorted. My point was...

Re: "newbie" type question- thinking about getting a G4 for my 001

I would have thought that the oldest version of PT supported by Leopard is PT7.4. Any newer version of PT will load old sessions and you can also convert new sessions to run on older versions.
For...

Re: "newbie" type question- thinking about getting a G4 for my 001

Why would you want to use PT6.4 if you were going to run it on a computer of that spec? You could just run PT8 and be totally up to date?

Re: "newbie" type question- thinking about getting a G4 for my 001

You will be able to open PT5 sessions in PT6.4 but as for the plugins...you will have to upgrade them all. And yes 6.4 will only work with OSX(Panther) I believe. I am not sure about that computer?I...

Re: "newbie" type question- thinking about getting a G4 for my 001

Yeah the G4 Dual optical from late 2002 was the last dual processor machine that could run OS9 and the largest processor size was 1.25ghz.
Here is the info from the site I gave you the link for

Re: "newbie" type question- thinking about getting a G4 for my 001

Pro Tools will not run on a mac running OS 9 in classic mode. Which is what is described in the links you provided. Classic mode is how you can run some OS9 apps in OSX, it does not support every OS9...

That is just me with a MacBook pro 2.4,
I'm not sure if anyone else has the same problem? And as I said,it is fine to use when mixing with the buffer set higher. I do like my Bluetooth MM.

Re: Wireless Keyboard/mouse...?

No.
Not under PT8 with a low buffer setting!
With my mighty mouse PT7 worked fine! And 8 works if the buffer is set at about 256ish. With it set at its lowest it gives errors after a short time....

Re: iLok - do i just pull it out?

I very often pull out the ilok with pro tools running so I can connect a usb keyboard instead. Even with plugins on tracks it doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm pretty sure the ilok is only...
