Re: Window focus randomly changing... and it's the Avid HD Driver

We thought of that, but if it's an Avid issue... and we proved that by pulling the HDX cards... they're going to have to fix this at some point.

Re: Window focus randomly changing... and it's the Avid HD Driver

OK, this problem is back and I'm going to let Avid know. I do believe it's an issue with Big Sur 11.5 and later. We received MacPro rack computers which came with Big Sur installed at 11.5. We...

Re: HDX with Dante Via

Well we've made the D64R work in our situation as Dante isn't our normal IO but additional to 128 MADI channels, all going through an SSL MADI router that gives us flexibility. Regardless, there's...

Re: HDX with Dante Via

My confusion... I'm thinking only 32-channels per DigiLink cable, which has always been the case. ProTools reverts to only 32-IO without Avid hardware, which is my biggest complaint.

Re: HDX with Dante Via

You are right, however, the main reason the line only has 32 channels of Dante is, in my opinion, because of Avid. You only get 32-channels of IO per DigiLink cable, so why have a device with...

Re: Window focus randomly changing... and it's the Avid HD Driver

Update... we did a RECOVER of the OS and, of course, Apple installed 11.5.2 again. We checked window focus before reinstalling HD Drivers and it was fine. We then installed 2021.7 drivers and...

Window focus randomly changing... and it's the Avid HD Driver

We just upgraded to new MacPro Racks and installed our 2-HDX cards in one of the Macs. The system did upgrade the OS to 11.5.2 and, I know, it's not officially supported, but we've not had this...

Re: 96k Headphone Adapter MacBook Pro

GREAT!! Unless you're using HD Native/HDX there is no reason to go that direction. Glad you figured out how to make it work!! Aggregate is a PERFECT way to work, especially for me at home. If it...

Re: 96k Headphone Adapter MacBook Pro

Well that's the problem if you're just using a USB C adapter. What I have are D/A convertors.

One is an Oppo HA-2SE https://www.oppodigital.com/headphone-amplifier-ha-2SE/ originally purchased...

Re: Monitors in 2021

We've been a Genelec facility since 2004... lots of 1030, 1031, S30D, 1038B and slowly updated to 8040, 8330 and 8340 keeping each control room and edit bay consistent with SAM. Editors & producers...

Re: 96k Headphone Adapter MacBook Pro

What device is it? I have a couple that work at 96k and higher without issues, both on my iMac and MBPro. Are you setting the device as master clock in Audio MIDI setup?

Sorry if I'm asking the...

Re: Slot prefs for new MacPro (HD Native)

Yeah, we discovered the GPU works in slot 3, so if HD Native needs to go in slot 2 we can move the GPU, otherwise we'll just try other options.

Thanks for the reply!

I've seen the Avid recommendations for slot preferences in the new MacPro for HD Native and HDX cards. Our issue is we have three systems with the HD Native and Avid recommends Slot 2, right next to...

Re: Just Bought Pro Tools Ultimate

Not sure what you're asking... what are you trying to do, just install it? Any particular reason why you bought ULTIMATE and not the vanilla version?

I've been running vanilla on my iMac for...

Re: Big Sur Update - Graphics lag and can't reorder tracks

I did the same thing this weekend on my late 2020 iMac. Clean install after erasing the drive and only brought in my user data from Time Machine... no system file transfers, no other apps or...

Re: Recommended iMac Specs for Pro Tools 2021.3 (Pro Tools STANDARD) BigSur Compatibi

I just bought a 27" in November. Got the fastest processor available and bumped up the graphics to the max. Ordered it with stock 8GB RAM as I could get 64GB from Other World Computing for $300...

Re: Is there a way to MUTE a channel when punching in?

BScout, I'll look at Mute-o-Matic... otherwise what I did was use another aux buss from the recorded track to add to the mix-minus feed going to Source Connect. When I punch-in, I mute the aux...

Is there a way to MUTE a channel when punching in?

I'm trying to setup some sessions where talent is remote. We'll use Source Connect to get audio in/out, but my real issue is in looking for some Pro Tools functionality.

Talent must get a...

Re: Processor recommendations for new MacPro

Yup, we're doing the rack, as well. We're adding a couple of SSL System-T consoles later and the rack MacPros will rack along side the SSL engines.

Thanks again to everyone for the input!!

Re: Processor recommendations for new MacPro

Re: Processor recommendations for new MacPro

Strictly audio but a couple of these systems are doing audio post to picture, so we will upgrade all of them to the "midfield" Radeon W5700Z graphics card.

Thanks again for the thoughts!!

Re: Processor recommendations for new MacPro

The system we have is from Scale Logic, who are pretty big stuff in the post-production world. We've had the system a little over two years and it just ROCKS!!

Re: Processor recommendations for new MacPro

Thanks, Darryl... all good thoughts. All five systems will be identical with the exception of the two systems with HDX2. Totally agree with the 3rd party memory... OWC good pricing.

As far as...
