Re: Is through audio possible without LE open and REC ENABLE

I diagree... You can plug anything you want into the Alt Src input. Then all it takes is pressing a button on the front to send that out to your monitors. Very handy for a cd player or a soundcard...

Re: The Allenstein Quadzilla Machine *Update 05/20

This is exactly what happens if you do not have the Protools 7 update from waves. I know you said you installed the latest versions but make sure when ProTools loads that the version 5 is 5.03/...

Re: who here works exclusively in grid mode...

I don't get caught up in the myth that only blues or slight variations = feeling. My personal taste is a nice tight sound. It comes down to what you like. I'm not into techno, quite the oppisite...

Re: who here works exclusively in grid mode...

Only if by "life" you mean good timing!

But seriously, I work mostly in grid mode unless I need to make a fade. Even before protools I've always had a click which to me is the same difference.

Converting 5.x to 7.x

I came across a friends ProTools 5.1 session folder and was wondering if there is a way to open it in 7.x. I've searched the DUC and didn't see anything. Please let me know if this is even...

Re: AD Converters

Thanks for the great advice!

It makes perfect sense to hear the benifits of AD you need DA. My main objective was to find out what people thought of Mytek since I can't find many reviews.

I'm...

AD Converters

I've seen a lot of posts lately about AD\DA converters and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Mytek Stero96 ADC. I've heard some good things about it in comparison to the Apogee...

Re: Update on the Dissapearing 1394

Sorry to hear! I was hoping it was something different. I had a card installed and it would disappear the same as the onboard. Eventually even my DVD drive would disappear. So the bad news is...

Re: Quadzilla not starting

It doesn't look like your RAM is ECC registered. Not sure if that is a requirement of the Asus board like it is on the Tyan though. There are a couple of other Asus users that should chime in...

Re: Dissapearing 1394 (possible resolution?)

I have True Image on my computer but I've never restored or rolled back to a prior image. I don't think that rolling back to a prior image could cause the problem without some kind of warning on the...

Re: Dissapearing 1394 (possible resolution?)

Hopefully that's it. My problems started out very speradically. I was able to "fix" it at first by reloading the drivers. However it started becoming a lot more frequent and started happening to my...

Re: Dissapearing 1394

Be prepared! They'll want you to do some troubleshooting steps before you send it in. They wanted me to take it out of the case and run it to see if the problem disappeared due to a short.

Re: Dissapearing 1394

Yes, I had the same problem after a couple of months of use. Both the onboard firewire and an adaptec card would both randomly disappear from the device manager. Restarts would work at first but...

Re: Allenstein Quadzilla Machine

Make sure you have an instance of the wave rewire plug-in. If you don't make a new stereo aux track. Open the waves rewire plug on it. Clear all the info from within the tunbe plug then let it...

Re: 002R problem with Quad

Check in your device manager to make sure your 1394 controller is still recognized.

What you are describing sounds a lot like what happened to me. Check the Quadzilla thread I think around page...

Re: 1394 light on my Digi 002 Rack blinks and locks up

No.

It solved itself when I took the backup drive off the same 1394 controller.

Re: 1394 light on my Digi 002 Rack blinks and locks up

What I'm describing is not the power harness issue. I experienced that a couple of years ago. What we're describing is a flashing 1394 light which I believe is due to some firewire conflict.

The...

Re: 1394 light on my Digi 002 Rack blinks and locks up

I'm curious about this as well because I've had the same thing happen. It was usually remedied by a restart.

Are you using an onboard firewire device or a PCI card?
If PCI card, which one?

I...

Re: New Quad

That card should be fine. I have the 256mb silent version and it works fine.

Make sure you have it in the top PCIx slot, the second is only a PCIx4 in a x16 input.
I had to file the tops off the...

Re: Allenstein Quadzilla Machine

This explains my problem exactly! It just hasn't made its way to the hard drives or monitors yet. I'll give Tyan a call tomorrow. Thanks for saving me tons of troubleshooting time!!!

Re: Allenstein Quadzilla Machine

Now if I could just get them to send me a replacement.

On a side note I took the fan off and turned up my case fans up a little and haven't had any shutdowns.
