If I understand you correctly, what you need to do is to record 3-4 complete loops, and then try looping the 3rd or 4th repeat. That should give the reverb time to "settle" and get to a "consistent"...

Do you have a track in record when it won't loop? That is one predictable way to not have looped playback even when "Loop Playback" is enabled.

You can use FW 400 devices with the new macs by using a "turn around" cable (or adapter) going from FW800 on one end to FW400 on the other. I use a new 15" Macbook Pro with an MBox 2 Pro interface...
