I just went the OpenCore path and brought my 5,1 12-core to 12.4 on a second boot drive. (hoping to bridge even more time until the M1/M2 dust has settled)

Thanks Dave. Interesting theory. "Push it till it breaks" using the NF session by duplicating stems would be a good test to see what the meters are worth.
The M1 laptops definitely stopped playing...

The session is a short film. It caches 100% but that doesn't make a difference. Drive speed isn't an issue especially on the 6,1 and beyond. And the Studio does 6Gb/s drive speed so I don't think how...

Tests done with the final mix PT session. It's pretty light on voice count (around 260) but uses tons of plugins.
We used this session as it's based on built in PT plugins, has a heavy surround...

M1 laptops were also in the 90-100% range. I didn't list them as the test was done with inactive plugins pre plugin update release.

What makes you think the meters are useless? I wrote that the PT...
