Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

I'm still on a cheesegrater with High Sierra. Still runs OK. I plan to switch at some point but if you don't need to be on the latest Apple OS then you still have some time. This is a studio only...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

Eric, are you seeing what another poster had written that changing the buffer size doesn't do much?

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

That is awesome news. It's basically what I would expect. What was your old machine?

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

We all can get to a point where we think our word is the only truth. It's human to be that way and human to get bothered by it in others.

Getting back to PT. It is not clear to me that any...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

I'm not quite sure why this has gotten so far off track. People form opinions form various sources and they state their opinions as well.

There is no such thing as a correct or incorrect...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

It's not Avid. It's Acoustica. They never figured out how to spec their plugs for AAX. Even with native code for Apple silicon they will still suck.

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

It's results like this that have me holding back on any new Apple computer. I agree with Eric's suggestion and also wondering if it should be the first session played after starting up PT just to...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

Awesome share! I assume the Mac Pro 16 core is a 2019 7,1?

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

FYI- the relaying of your experience is what has made me hold off on a Studio purchase.

It could be that PT and other audio software use and need CISC (complex instruction set chips) to best do...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

Currently for me, having an old cheese grater on the floor away from my monitors is great. I would be concerned to have a Studio on the floor in the same fashion. I agree that we need to hear from...

I can't tell if there are any instrument tracks. Can you elaborate a little when you have time?

Did you port stuff over or do new install of everything? Can you share the rest of your setup with us when you have time?

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

I can feel the pain of those who have purchased the Ultra only to hear PT is not totally rockin on it.

It would be nice to hear from a programmer as to why this is the case and what we can expect...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

Thanks Frank. Have you tried running on a fast external drive on the Studio.

Trying to better understand what's holding things up. Internal should not matter but who knows.

Awesome details...

Re: New "Mac Studio" finally enters the world

Thanks for the reply. I use a single card as well. I've been quite happy with HDx. It's one of the few things I sunk money into that still proves itself each day.

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

Thanks for posting. Will be interesting to see what the next mac pro is like. May not be so great for PT no matter how fast the benchmarks are. Hopefully when Avid codes for Apple silicon we'll...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

PT has always been hit or miss from my own experience on various machines. Agree it could likely be a single plugin but there again we go with AAX as a platform no where near as tight as it needs to...
