Coming from Logic Pro (with its extensive MIDI editing capabilities) I don’t really find Pro Tools lacking at all… but I play in my MIDI parts and don’t rely on programming much.

As recommended above, I wouldn't purchase a Mac Pro 5.1 at this time just to run TB3 on it, but if you already have one and would like to extend its life for few more years than a (flashed) Titan...
