can you use pitchshift on vocals?

can you use pitchshift on vocals?

does anyone know if there is a way to use pitch shift on vocals to create harmonys? ive tried a few times with a couple differnt settings on the effect and havent noticed any difference.

the files that ive bounced to disk never burn right or play on itunes, which is my only music player...
at this point im pretty desperate and open to any suggestions.
