Re: Pro Tools 10 Live Play For A Small Band

No problem - the Axiom is the best option m-audio wise for controlling protools - but I use my oxygen 61 (black/dark blue model) to do the control set I mentioned just fine. The 49 key is $150

Re: Music production setup

Out of curiosity I just quickly ran one - I didn't close this browser, have my firewall and antivirus running (4 tabs in browser) and some startup stuff (dropbox etc) 250 @ 1024, might have squeezed...

Re: Music production setup

Yeah both backups and using a profire 2626 - never tried the dverb test - not going to be shattering any boundaries with a stock i5 lol

Re: Pro Tools 10 Live Play For A Small Band

I'm not sure about the Korg controller but with newer M-Audio controllers you can change selected tracks with the midi keyboard and set protools to receive omni on selected track so just have each...

Re: Music production setup

Sure I'll try to remember when I get home - but I literally only customized the hardware specs on HP.com, added an internal a usb external for data storage and did the tweaks avid/digi recommends for...

Re: Music production setup

I mean it could make a difference but honestly I have stock ram ..stock everything except my hard drives and I have no issues. One area where it might make a huge difference is with that new...

Re: Music production setup

I don't think it's going to make a huge difference. I use an i5 2500 and 6GB ram and haven't hit a wall yet..I don't do huge orchestral compositions either, though - but I do some pretty...

Re: Mpc 2000xl with protools

not sure if the 2000xl does both mtc and midi clock but what I did with my 4000 is midi clock one way and mtc the other, set the offset to match pt session offset and then the transports on both were...

Re: Playback engine - 64 samples - Can anyone run this?

Well yes and no - yeah your computer should and can run protools fine and you shouldn't need a ton of optimizations, but if you want to run protools as fast as it possibly can run - you have to...

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation & Plug Ins - Average? or Additive?

Thanks for this clarification on the re-positioning - that was the root of my question. I did test this out last night both straight recording and then punching in and yeah - it works. Pretty dope....

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation & Plug Ins - Average? or Additive?

I guess I'll have to do a test myself when I get home.

What I'm asking is does protools physically move the recorded audio to 0, or does it record at the delay offset and stay there.

If I...

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation & Plug Ins - Average? or Additive?

Thanks for the reply - just to make sure I understand completely what you're saying:

If I have ADC set to 4095 and record a perfectly timed (and bland) track once I'm done recording protools...

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation & Plug Ins - Average? or Additive?

I did not know this - but that's great to know. I guess that brings up a different question then..

What's the purpose of recording with ADC on (other than efficiency/not having to enable it...

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation & Plug Ins - Average? or Additive?

I turn it off for tracking because I want all of my recordings to line up to the grid precisely, I'm assuming if it's on (never tried tracking with it on so perhaps I'm wrong) then there is the...

Re: Playback engine - 64 samples - Can anyone run this?

The only time I track above 64 is when I have more than a couple virtual instruments running, or I'm tracking something after already started mixing etc

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation & Plug Ins - Average? or Additive?

correct

however - like someone said above - I wouldn't use the minimum setting just because your plugs don't go over that. This is an efficiency thing moreso than a technical thing. When you...

Re: Will the new AAX plugs be supported in other daw's?

I would assume AAX would follow like TDM and RTAS - only in protools and the installer asks what versions you need installed for other DAWS.

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation - PT 10 - Am I doing this right?

Yeah - but there is a catch..

I've found that it's easier for me to apply ADC early on (once tracking is finished) even if the immediate plugins I'm using aren't showing latency. The reason is if...

Re: PT10 users, please check working with playlists!

I didn't notice any slowdown when working with playlists and doing pretty much what you've described with bass and rhythm takes, but I didn't have this thread on my mind either. Definitely nothing...

Re: Automatic Latency Compensation - PT 10 - Am I doing this right?

if you're only adding plugins/inserts to master channel/fader you don't need adc on at all - to retrack something after you add ozone to master just make the plugin inactive.
