Just as a follow up, it appears that the settings do get saved properly with the new versions of the plugins. Thanks everyone for the help.

I have activated them, and I just recently upgraded to the latest version and re-activated, after adware forced a re-install of everything. I thought I had observed the same behaviour since updating...
