Re: Avid HD Driver

It's been saying to do that forever, but I personally have not had any problems letting the computer go to sleep automatically.

Re: Carbon and Atmos

The main issue with Carbon is that it can not, at this time, be set up with built in surround monitoring, only stereo. To monitor in surround of any kind, you would need to either use an external...

Re: Avid Omni and Cranborne ADAT and 4 analog IN/OUT

The Omni only does 8 channels total, so you could do 4 adat and 4 analog, or 8 adat.

Re: HDX Thunderbolt Chassis and HD Native

Perhaps a too obvious question, but are you using Protools Ultimate? Nothing wiil be recognized if you're just using standard Protools.

Re: IK's Axe I/O record to Pro Tools

You mention trying to use HDX. I'm not sure exactly what you're doing, but this is an either/or situation. If you select AXE IO as your playback engine, you can only use it, and not HDX. It...

Re: What's the Best Mac and hardware for a new upgrade?

As mentioned, your best bet is to get the Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 Adapter which is $49 (you can get them at Best Buy as well as the Apple store and other places).

This has worked...

Re: PT ultimate perpetual

Note that you can sell the software and pcie card separately. They don't need to be tied to each other like they used to. You may find it's easier to sell them separately as people may need just...

Re: Carbon's Future...?

At the very least they could make an 8 channel unit of the exact same preamps and conversion that hooks up by Adat, similar to how Focusrite makes the Scarlett Octopre to exactly match their Scarlett...

Re: Mastering - suite versus individual plugins

I also suggest you download Ozone 9, but for a different reason: It will allow you to test exactly what you're asking about.

Ozone 9, in Protools, can operate as an all in one suite with...

Re: Is there a way to expand HD Omni to have 13 channels (7.2.4) for Dolby Atmos mixi

Unfortunately the Omni is maxed out at 8 inputs, 8 outputs. You could jerry rig the headphone cue output (9-10) for an additional 2, but that won't really help much.

The MTRX Studio would be a...

Re: Carbon now comes with Ultimate?

So I'm guessing this is arranged in such a way that people who already have Ultimate can't buy this unit, and then sell the Ultimate serial number, is that correct? Or vice versa, perhaps.

Re: Best way to add more mic pres to HDX/Omni system?

If you decide to go for the HD IO, then whatever preamp you get does not have to have digital outs like the Midas, so you have a lot more choices. And all 8 channels do not have to be the same...

Re: Dolby Vision/Dolby DAPS on a Budget

A couple things to mention.

There is currently no consumer (or reasonably priced) Blu-Ray authoring program that allows you to import Dolby Atmos files. The only ones that do are the very...

Re: Best way to add more mic pres to HDX/Omni system?

Keep in mind the Omni is still limited to 8 total inputs, regardless of if they are analog or digital. If you hooked up an 8 channel preamp with digital outs, you could use 6 of those channels while...

Re: Really basic HDX question

I see. What about if you need to record into a native non DSP amp sim like Amplitube. Do you switch over to the Rednet card, or just lower the buffer while using the HDX card?

Re: Really basic HDX question

Thank you both for the info!

Uptheoctave, when using the MTRX into the Rednet card like you mentioned, are you doing audio recording, or just using that for virtual instruments?

Really basic HDX question

Since I never considered HDX all these years until now (due to the cost of more than one card), I've never looked into this.

If you are using HDX with any DAW other than Protools, such as Logic or...

I suppose the only path is to first upgrade to Pro, then from Pro to Hybrid.

Re: License / plugins problem ?

They are permanent licenses that come with the purchase of Carbon.

Based on this article, they each come with their own serial numbers which must be entered individually.

What I don't know is...

Autotune Hybrid now available as upgrade from Autotune Pro

Just wanted to mention this for all the DSP people. When PT Carbon was announced, Autotune Hybrid was also announced, basically a DSP version of Autotune. However, it was just sold new at $399 (or...

Re: Question regarding both HDX and Carbon

Just curious, you guys using VE Pro, especially on a second computer, are there advantages to that vs. hosting your instruments in another DAW, such as Logic?
