We started with a HEAT setting we liked and then A/B'd against the NEVE mix and ultimately dialed it in a bit more. The regular Pro Tools mix is 'flat' as you say... No added sauce to make it sound...

78% said they were not sure how they did, that it was pretty hard.

The average correct identification is 30%

Just to wrap up my thoughts on this test and respond to you:

We are attempting to remove any bias or 'tipping of the scales' by not telling you what is the Neve, Pro Tools Only or PT HEAT mix....

The mixes you downloaded are dithered 48k 16 Bit files. There really is no easy way to make a 96k 24 Bit Video QuickTime file, I tried to. 48k 16 Bit is not much different than any other CD, except...

I just checked, as of right now :

288 People have taken the test to date and 68 % answered A/B said They were not sure - It was Pretty hard.

The Current Average Score is 30 % Correct.

I believe the setting we ended up on was Drive at about 10 o'clock and Tone at around 2:00 o'clock. An interesting thing was, we settled on using HEAT on the source channels and on the Audio Stems...
