Well Ive got my Semi-Allenstien system up and running and did the Davec test properly..i think?

Here's the specs and results
Athlon 64 2800+ (512kb L2 cache)
ASUS K8V Deluxe SE
512mb Hynix...

I'm getting the ASUS K8V Deluxe SE board for AUD$215 in Perth. As for CPU I know that the 3400's are around that price...but when the 2800+ is more than half price for AUD$289 I'd rather get that now...

Well I got scared and freaked out a bit at the thought of the mainboard not being compatible so now ive cancelled the msi board and found a shop who could get me the ASUS K8V Deluxe SE...suposedly...

Yeah...they don't list the 2800 on the AMD website but they do list the 3000. Where I live the current 64 cpus available and their Australian dollar prices around
2800+ $289
3000+ $369
3200+ $449...

Well Ive ordered the Antec Sonata case (with the standard antec truepower 380W PSU), a Athlon 64 2800+ CPU, MSI K8T mainboard, and 512mb Hynix DDR400...hopefully it will all work together

Thanks Allen. I made a mistake in my post. I meant the Athlon 64 2800+ or 3000+ not the XP 2800 or 3000. I know that the ASUS and MSI K8 boards are athlon 64 boards...I just cant afford the athlon 64...

Thanks for your comments on the sonata case. So would u recommend anything else other than the sonata...or does it do the job not bad? I the best quality cases I can afford are AOPEN and Antec cases....

Heya Allen

This a great thread, and hopefully will stop me from making any expensive mistakes and it also made me aware that Protools is compatible with Athlon 64's...seeing the digidesign site...
