Re: XP Ram?

3 GB is optimum in XP...the 32 bit OS, can't do anything with the rest and it's a waste of money. This is true in a log of early 32 Bit systems.

When things move to 64 bit, that changes.

Re: another new Quadder to be...

x9Blade...I have the Quad with the PCI HD1 card. One of the first. It's perfect, the PCIe boards have issues with this system at least when I built it back last year, so stick with PCI for now.

Re: Allenstein OctaPC and Quadzilla Machine *update*

Guitardom...is there a direct link to the new Octospec?

Maybe I'll build one on the LE side and keep the Quad with the TDM card...that would make for some awesome tracking possibilities.

Thanks...

Re: Allenstein OctaPC and Quadzilla Machine *update*

Re: Allenstein Quadzilla Machine - Long Addressing

Read a great article in a one off magazine, for those not familiar there is a great utility that will make your existing VST's, DXi's, etc. long address aware.

What does that mean? Most software...

Re: Dual Boot

Of course...you do have to monitor your CMOS setting as we've noted it has a mind of it's own ;-)

Re: Dual Boot

Shane's right. I run WinXp, WinXP64bit and Linux. With all that said, not one issue. Partitions are never an issue with equipment ;-). Once an OS loads, the drive mapping is all it cares about...

Re: errors on bouncing ?

Important question is which version of VST2RTAS you're running if it's v1, you're hosed. If you upgraded to V2, then they'll take the bug. V2 has PT7 support and I've found it works with every plug...

Agreed, the Thunder is the Server board...although it too is on the approved boards list at Digi...we have no one to date that has one up and running.

Power conditioning

Only one thing I can contribute...just got mine, APC BackUPS 1250 http://tinyurl.com/nvw7o. It can handle the computer, both LCD's and my Digi 192io (you could put the 002r through it) and that...

The mixed chipset is a huge difference and can/probably is creat(ing) your instability issues. The Thunder has "server" features that Tyan decided was necessary for another market, the Tiger board...

Re: 4 processors, 1 processor and cpu usege meter.

Agree with Shane, If you don't update Waves to the 7.1 patch upgrade, you're pretty well toast. I found this out initially and then the epiphany I realized I'd not patched for 7 and once that was...

Re: started building

Definently looks good, but for the drives, here's what I've found:

I started my first system (2 years ago) with 150GB x 2, this Quad system is 150GB and a 500GB for audio samples, etc and I'm...

Re: started building

No to both questions. They can't take advantage of the new architecture, but there's no problems as WinXp is a 32bit operating system that's "aware" of it's environment. You can use your existing...
