Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

I am currently running a Athlon 3500+ 939 pin on an Asus A8V-deluxe.
Do you think this processor is compatable with this motherboard?

Re: Will these do?

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. It's just louder than anything else in my box. The helecopter statement was a little exaggerated. I'm just looking for something quieter. What kind of...

Re: Will these do?

What are you guys useing for a noiseless 939 pin cpu cooler these days? I have a 120mm Zalman that sounds like a helecopter. It's supposed to be quiet but it's the only thing in my case making noise....

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

I opted for the 96 because of the higher sample rate. Not that I even use it but I could. What you need to do is get the s/pdif breakout cable and one of these...

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

I'm getting the same error. It's because the fan rpm's are lower than the mobo likes. What kind of fan do you have? Did you install a speed controller? I have the Zalman 7700, it's like 120mm huge...

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

I just put together this new box and it totally rocks. And I am very happy with it so far. I got a Davec of 32+20 and that's good enough for me. All stock no real tweaks. You can see my setup below....

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

I got an A8V Deluxe for $120.00 and a Radeon 9800 for $179.00. The 3500 cpu I got is going from $250-$275 I think. You may like the 754 chips better but so far I'm happy with my 939. I didn't have to...

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

Hey neat, how was the install? Did you do anything special like flash the bios for that mobile cpu? I'm still trying to decide between the 754 and 939 chips. I'm sort of leaning to the 939. I go back...

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

Quick question about memory. Do you get better performance with 1gb of ram on 1 stick or 2 at 512? The "IT" guy where I work says 1 stick of 1gb is better than 2 at 512. Does it matter? I know you...

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE
