Re: the Firewire chipset on Asus P35 boards, the P5K and the P5KC both run the VIA VT6308P. It's the ones with WiFi that have the Agere chipset.

Missed the questions from a few days back. No issues at all running the Mbox. No pops, hiss, etc. Just the lowered dverb count. And yes, it comes right back up to 252 w/ the Mbox 2...

Yeah I'm scratching my head on this one too. I think it's common to see a slight decrease comparing FW to USB interfaces, but not nearly this much (~12%). No other peripherals plugged in. USB...

Only thing to add is that my build is running 667 RAM, not 800. So yes, I would say that the P35 chipset is solid. May try 800 soon, and will post some Mbox 1 numbers very soon.
