Re: MTRX Dante IO

You can have multiple cards per unit.

'Up to 8 cards in a Single MTRX Mainframe'.

Re: Avid MTRX Dante card SRC

Ah of course.
No, I do not have different Dante networks, they are all on the same subnet.

I'll create a VLAN in the switch and it should work.

Thanks Jeff.

Avid MTRX Dante card SRC

Hi all,

This is a question for those people using the MTRX's Dante card.
I am struggling to get the SRC to work.

I want the Focusrite Rednet PCIER card to be able to connect to the Dante card...

Re: HDX with Dante Via

I moved from the Red 16 Line to the MTRX, because it had too few Dante channels.
I didn't drop 30k on the MTRX- the critical conversion uses MTRX converters (mic pre's), the rest is over Dante...

Re: USB 3.0 hub recommendations for Mac - 2021

IMHO non-rackmountable USB hubs are a total PITA.

Sedna do a 13 port hub for not a lot of money.
I have 3 of them in different parts of the studio, extended by active cables.

Re: Dear Avid, Please Make a mini HDX Card

Because Apple didn't make a new machine that could accept PCIe cards for about 8 years, I think.

Re: Dear Avid, Please Make a mini HDX Card

You have essentially described Carbon, except the decision was to go with AVB rather than PCI or Thunderbolt.
I agree Carbon with a super low latency Thunderbolt connector would have been brilliant.

Re: Where in the world is...

He was spiky, which I guess can get exhausting, but super helpful once you got past that.
Hope he is ok.

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio

Another option is to use a monitor controller that supports multiple simultaneous sources.

The SPL MTC2381 is one.
I believe the Crane Song Avocet is another.

The Grace M905 is not.

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio

Current Mac Pro doesn't have optical.
If he has 2012 or earlier then that is ok.
Or some Thunderbolt docks have it.

My (massively over engineered solution) is to us an audio interface with...

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio

99% sure Soundsource won't work with HDX for the reason you describe- HDX would need to be available to Core Audio for Soundsource to work.
It won't be when pro Tools is running.

Re: MTRX Studio

Thanks.
I understand your requirement now.

Re HDX vs Focusrite- that is probably your call to make.
If you're never going to go above 64 channels then you don't need HDX.
Do you ever work in...

Re: MTRX Studio

A lack of scalability is why I didn't buy the MTRX Studio actually.

I discuss why here: LINK (https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2020/7/31/why-i-decided-to-buy-to-avid-mtrx)

Re: MTRX Studio

Agree- I've used DVS for that purpose too.
I largely see it as its intended use.

Re: MTRX Studio

Honestly, I don't see the point in spending 5k on an audio interface with a Digilink connector only to not use it and use DVS.
It doesn't make sense to me.

You could get a Focusrite Red 16Line...

Re: MTRX Studio using Dante only

I do this a lot- it isn't an issue.
Given I am slamming it through hardware compressors and trying to squash them down I don't think dynamic range is a major issue.
The average rock song probably...

Re: MTRX Studio using Dante only

FWIW you need to connect the RME to the host computer via USB.
It will not work via Ethernet.
That was something that had me puzzled when I first tested it.
The manual explains it but RME manuals...

Re: MTRX Studio using Dante only

I reviewed that too, but not with the MTRX.
It would be an excellent external option.

Re: MTRX Studio using Dante only

I have the DAD MOM (2 of them actually) here.
The R1 is excellent and the labelling is great but I don't have an issue with the MOM's.
They are excellent and freely programmable.
I have no...

Re: MTRX Studio

Don't change audio interface mid project.

I would use a Rednet PCIER card instead of DVS.

I know Avid's recommendation is to use a separate network for Eucon but I have zero problems running...

OK cool.
I reviewed the R1 actually:

The Red 16Line only has 32 Dante channels, that might or might...

Re: MTRX Studio using Dante only

What you are planning is possible but for the LOVE OF GOD do not use DVS.
Latency is a pain with DVS.

Buy the Focusrite Rednet PCIER card.
It is excellent.

There are quite a few of us using...
