Re: How to import midi data

You can save the midi data from the file menu.

Go to

File>Export>MIDI...

This will save a midi file (.mid) that you can import into a new session. You may have to do some remapping of i/o's...

Re: Basic midi sequencing question

You could just make the MIDI note the correct length and if you need to use it again copy and paste. As you say, the envelope is determined by the note release.

This is an easy work around that...

Re: Low Volume After bounce

I think sometimes this can be overlooked and is obviously very important.

We have been using 'Burn' at work over the last year after the cost of toast became to prohibitive to have on many...

Re: Basic midi sequencing question

You are getting MIDI note synthesised sounds and MIDI note sampled sounds mixed up.

A sample will only play for its duration if played from a sampler via a MIDI command unless you loop it (then...

Do you have another application open such as iTunes or Quicktime when trying to open PT?

Also have you tried other firewire leads. I had a lead once that kept losing connections with any...

Re: Looking to get an M-Box2, questions (academic version, snow leopard, etc.)

Yes.

But not without the mbox2 or PT/m-audio interface.

The 'mbox2 mini' would do for just 2 jack inputs if thats all you require on a tight budget.

Re: Looking to get an M-Box2, questions (academic version, snow leopard, etc.)

Not into protools you won't. It only uses protools/m-audio interfaces. Maybe look at the m-Audio options available. There may be one that more suites your needs.

Re: Looking to get an M-Box2, questions (academic version, snow leopard, etc.)

Ask the technician at your uni/college to contact avid or their supplier or contact avid customer support yourself, as this is more of a consumer issue rather than a technical one.

Maybe avid...

Re: IEEE new Firewire S3200 to rival USB 3.0!!

I've also read that USB3 will will have some form of optical component.

Not sure if this would be a separate option or if it would be 'embedded' into the standard cable.

Re: IEEE new Firewire S3200 to rival USB 3.0!!

Yes. I have also read this a few times before. it is to do with the peer to peer of firewire and the master/slave of USB which apparently eats into the mean average of the data transfer rate (as...

Re: IEEE new Firewire S3200 to rival USB 3.0!!

There is obviously a physical limit to cabling size etc.... but I think transfer speeds are more down to the software codecs, transmitters and receivers available at the time. As these technologies...

Re: Sessions were fine yesterday, now plays back in wrong pitch

It is definitely to do with sample rates and clocking. I know sometimes it can be hard to believe but most of the time it is down to some form of user error (like a physical switch on the back of the...

Re: Sessions were fine yesterday, now plays back in wrong pitch

On the 002r the yellow light is for a 48kHz sample rate where as the green light is 44.1kHz.

So you are playing a 44.1 session at 48. This would result in more samples being played per second and...

However paying updates will be that.... Payable. Just like the regular version.

And go for the mBox2 Pro. To many potential negative...

Re: Mastering Q

First try the Massey 2007 mastering limiter. Very smooth and if you are gentle with the input it is not to pumpy.

As for fader riding... this has been going on way before the digital workstation....
